Tao's RAW choice

As a result of my recent decision to start cropping and color correcting my photos (I'll write up a photo tip about that soon), I started to seriously look at shooting in RAW.
Although I'm happy with the results I get when shooting in JPEG, the idea of having:
• total control over sharpening, color and white-balance
• more colour-information (12 bits per color-channel instead of 8)
• no compression artifacts
• the ability to get even better results when the software improves
is very tempting.

This necessitated finding a good RAW converter for OS X, which is not as easy as it sounds.
There is a whole raft of candidates, but when you start looking harder you will find that the list isn't as impressive as it may appear...Read on for more.

Stunning

Everybody that reads this, should head on over to Acapela right now, to try out their voice synthesis software. The results are quite frankly amazing!
They have a whole range on languages available and you can have tons of fun feeding english texts to, say, the swedish language processor. Stereotypes are revived before your eyes..eeeeuh...ears.

Now if only the reverse worked half as well.
