As a result of my recent decision to start cropping and color correcting my photos (I'll write up a photo tip about that soon), I started to seriously look at shooting in RAW.
Although I'm happy with the results I get when shooting in JPEG, the idea of having:
• total control over sharpening, color and white-balance
• more colour-information (12 bits per color-channel instead of 8)
• no compression artifacts
• the ability to get even better results when the software improves
is very tempting.
This necessitated finding a good RAW converter for OS X, which is not as easy as it sounds.
