Michael Reichmann over at the always illuminating Luminous Landscape site, has put up an essay making a point I wish I had made. The whole "it's not the camera, it's the photographer" meme has been getting on my nerve for a while now. If you want to sound wise, all you apparently need to do is say that the camera, the environment, the "being in the right place at the right time", etc. don't enter in to making a good picture at all.
