Recently I bought an iPod Touch. This started out mainly as a replacement for my nano, since 8Gb of storage wasn't enough for my music collection. Also I figured I could watch some video in the train to Sweden every morning.
Funnily enough, I found that one of the things I ended up using it for most, is photography! So much so, that I would recommend it to any photographer.
Why? Well, simply because it can hold all your pictures (albeit in compressed form). On my 32Gb iPod Touch, even after using most of the space for all my music and hours upon hours worth of video, I still can store 90% or so of all my images. Having all your important images in your pocket at all times really is something wonderful.
Of course I can show them to people whenever I need to. More of a thing however, is browsing through all of your pictures when you have idle time. I found some new gems in my collection, from a long time ago, simply by randomly browsing through stuff on the train. The touch interface really makes this a joy! Especially my "incoming" project in Aperture is great to have synced, as it means I can build up a feeling for the kinds of shots that are in there. I then make mental notes of this, so that I start really going through them on my desktop, I have a better idea what is in there and where to start.
If there was one feature I'd want it would be star-rating and/or flagging pictures and having that info synced back to Aperture. You can't have it all I guess, but who knows what people could build once the SDK goes live!
In the mean time: treat yourself to one of these, especially if you're an Aperture user. It'll be worth it!
